Hello, my name is Joey Bryson and I am thrilled to be Stephen F. Austin’s school counselor! My family relocated to the area in December 2015 from South Carolina. I have 12 years experience as a special education teacher in various subject areas and grade levels. I was named the School District of Oconee County's District Teacher of the Year in May 2015.
I earned my Bachelor of Science in Special Education with a minor in Elementary Education from Southern Wesleyan University in 2003. In 2005, I earned a Master's of Education in Divergent Learning from Columbia College. I earned a Master's of Education in School Counseling from Lamar University in 2012. I am currently a member of the Texas School Counselor Association and the American School Counselor Association.
My husband and I have been married for 22 years and are blessed to share our lives with 3 wonderful children. Our family enjoys spending time together by attending church, traveling, supporting our Clemson Tigers and being outdoors. There is never a dull moment in the Bryson household!
My goal as Stephen F. Austin's counselor is to support your child emotionally, academically and socially. Students will participate in weekly guidance activities and lessons to strengthen their confidence and build skills in each of the above mentioned areas.
Please feel free to contact me at any time with any questions or concerns you may have. I believe open communication between home and school is crucial to student success. I look forward to working with you and your child during their time at Stephen F. Austin. Go Gators!
